Kjaer discusses ‘dream’ of extending deal with ‘greatest club in the world’ Milan – video

Defender Simon Kjaer has described it as a ‘dream’ to have extended his contract with AC Milan for another two years, revealing his desire to retire with the Rossoneri.

There had been persistent rumours over the past couple of weeks stating that Kjaer is closing in on extending his deal with the Rossoneri and last night the club confirmed that he has extended his stay by two years until 2024.

Kjaer spoke to Milan TV after sealing his renewal, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“From the beginning I said I wanted to give an important hand to the team. Being able to stay at Milan again is a dream, I don’t want to be anywhere else, I’m too happy here. I’m proud to be here,” he said.

“Milan has always been the greatest club in the world for me, due to its history. There have been many great defenders. It is a dream that I am living every day, I am ready to give everything. 2024, I hope to win something before I go away.”

On Maldini: “I have a good relationship with him. He is a person who made football history, perhaps he was the greatest defender ever. Paolo gives a great impact to everyone.”

On Pioli: “I have an excellent relationship with him, he has great confidence in me and this allows me to give my best. I didn’t know him much before I met him here. He starts every day with a smile, he always asks everyone how they are which is important, if there is a person who gives everything for Milan it is the coach. He is always there and always gives his best.”

On the team: “Before I arrived here I saw that there was a quality group, perhaps they lacked a bit of confidence and awareness in their own means. We have become a great team, at the moment the strongest in Italy. Also the year. last we did very well.”

On his targets: “To leave a signal that a Dane like me has done something important in Milan. I want to finish my career here, not in 2024 because I am still young (smiles). In football, however, we must not look too far ahead. I look day after day.”
