Kjaer honest in assessment of PSV friendly loss: “This needs to change”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan defender Simon Kjaer did not mince his words after the friendly defeat against PSV Eindhoven, stating that things ‘need to change’.

Kjaer came off the bench in the second half during what was a very forgettable night for Milan at the home of the Eredivisie’s third-placed side, with the damage already done as the team were trailing 3-0.

PSV ran out to a 2-0 lead before the break thanks to goals from Guus Til and Noni Madueke, with the first a header and the second a lovely near post shot, and the latter scored again to put the game beyond doubt after the interval.

Kjaer was interviewed by Sky at the end of the game and was asked for his reflections on the result and the performance itself, something that he was clearly not satisfied with.

“It’s not a question of concentration or maturity, I’ve seen the whole team work in all the training sessions. We’ve lost in the last three games, this needs to change,” he said (via MilanNews).

“We do everything to get as many points as possible. We still have everything to play for, we are Milan, we won the Scudetto last year, I’m sure the fans will be with us until the end.”

  1. At least someone is being honest…
    Pioli should go.
It’s either that the boys aren’t listening to him or he has no tactical solutions.
It’s one thing not to score, it’s another to ship in goals.
    Complacency is taking its toll.

    1. Get a grip! They are friendlies for Pete’s sake! We aren’t facing relegation and are still competing in every competition. I know the break has been long but go check out the tables to remind yourself!

    2. I watched the game and being honest I am lost for words to describe it. I would love to ask Maldini what is really going on. I just think that the players are not good enough and is pioli the coach to get the best out of a bad bunch.

  2. U f***ing ingrates. We have just won the serie a, with a inferior squad to Juve, inter and napoli.
We are in the cl and 2nd in the league. What the f*** do u all want. This is sport, sometimes u win sometimes u dont.

Please cry to ur momies before posting here.

    1. Like changing the coach would magically turn Ballo-Toure into Hernandez, Lazetic into Pippo Inzaghi and Saelemaekers into a “+30 goals per season” type of monster.

The problem isn’t Pioli. He proved that last season by winning the scudetto with a mediocre squad. The problem is below-the-average players Milan have gathered and key players underperforming.

  3. I don’t agree with all this criticism at all..
The matches were only friendly ,,let’s get down to the real business and not blame pioli ..in my opinion he is a great manager ..remember our top players played throughout the World Cup ,and with pretty good effect might I add .one thing people can’t seem to grasp is the importance of Olivier Giroud ,you just can’t replace this man ,he was essential to Milan’s scuddeto win last season ,and yes of course we can win it again ,,plenty of goals to come from him ..yes a total of 20 or more this season .His play and technical ability is second to none ,he knows how to hold up play and bring wide players into the game ,inside the 18 yard area he is second to none ..He knows exactly where to be at the right time ,this is not down to luck ,
but through learnt skills ..never write this man off .
Secondly let’s looks at Theo Hernandez ,awsome abilty and tackling skills ,and work rate superb ,and he can also weigh in with a few spectacular goals .
Thirdly we have rafeol leao ,he can open up any defence ,and is vital for his distribution to Olivier Giroud,,these two have got an amazing understanding together.Rafeol Leo will score over 20 goals ,no doubt about that …so when we get our real team playing together things will come together again .So please all AC Milan fans remain optimistic..
