Kjaer says Milan ‘had to win’ at Cremonese and it is ‘two points lost’

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan defender Simon Kjaer has said that the Rossoneri had to win away at Cremonese on Tuesday night and they have lost two points as a result of the 0-0 draw.

Speaking after the frustrating match to DAZN (via Milan News), the Danish defender who started the game did not hold back on describing the situation for the team.

He stressed that against Cremonese they just needed to win without making any excuses but instead they failed to create enough chances or take what was created.

“During a match there are many particular moments that make the difference and we suffered, these are things we have to improve.

“There are many matches where there is not much time to train, today we had to win without excuses. Today we did well on several occasions, but we lacked the details to finish.”

He then added that the team are not satisfied with the way they played and they have lost two points in the context of the Serie A title race.

“We are not satisfied, we wanted the three points, to stay at the top and win the Scudetto. We lost two points and that’s it.”

With their involvement in the Champions League, Milan have been playing a lot of games in close succession. Kjaer was asked about this and discussed the mental side of the game.

“You know how it works, the mental game is something that we try to do our best with to arrive with the right mentality,” Kjaer said.

“There are many moments when you get a push forward and a push back. We have to put focus on this aspect. When the World Cup is over then there will be a crazy calendar and that’s when it will be important.”

Kjaer also said that the final ball let Milan down on Tuesday night in Cremona: “We try to work on many aspects, the coach gives a lot of stimulus, then we players have to go on the pitch and get results. Tonight the final ball was missing. Today we lost two points but on the mental side I can’t say anything.”
