Kjaer puzzled after Milan’s loss against Spezia: “It’s hard to explain”

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan failed to bounce back after the horrendous display against Inter, putting in yet another one as they lost 2-0 to Spezia. Simon Kjaer, one of the culprits, spoke to the media afterwards.

Kjaer played from the first minute due to the suspension of Malick Thiaw, and the Dane struggled to impose himself throughout the entire game. On Spezia’s first goal, he completely mistimed the ball with the zonal-marking strategy.

Speaking to DAZN, as cited by MilanNews, Kjaer admitted that Milan simply didn’t do enough out on the pitch this evening. He also made it clear that they must put this loss behind them, given the big game on Tuesday.

On the game…

“Tonight we didn’t do enough. Now we have Tuesday’s match. Today was fundamental, but there’s another war on Tuesday.”

One could have seen this coming…

“If I knew how to solve the problem, we’d be in another position. We have had so many difficulties in these games. It’s hard to explain why. Today we weren’t enough. We need to improve. In the first half, we had our moments, but we have to be more dominant, we are Milan. Then they scored from a corner. But we had to finish it sooner.”

Did the first leg vs. Inter affect you today?

“In our line of work, we need to be able to erase and move forward. We have to work, there is no other possibility.”

On the confrontation with Curva Sud…

“Since we won the league, our fans have surprised me a lot with positive things. They have always been close to us. I also remember Milan many years ago and they have always been there. They have always been really close to the team.”

Milan will face Inter in three days and they have a mountain to climb, currently down 2-0 on aggregate. At the very least, they will have to avoid another humiliating game, but that’s easier said than done these days.

  1. That awkward moment when you realize that most of your teammates and your coach are clowns and you’re getting old.

    1. Quite right this guy is a second rate defender to watch him when that corner came over he was no were near it he is to old and as I say the rest of the players are second rate. You watch them rebic origi the lad CD-Khe is not going to make it pobega not good enoughsallemakers not good enough I mean how long does maldini let this go on.

      1. Too old you said?
How old is Acerbi and De Vrij? But I’m sure you will argue if I should say Kjaer is better than both of them.

  2. Anyone who just watched the game can answer this question quite easily. This is not a new or recent problem. It’s been there all season.

I’m honestly getting tired of the same recycled responses from Kjaer, Pioli and team. Same answers every week.

There are many many problems ranging from tactics, getting overrun constantly in midfield, terrible/untrained at set pieces, lack of dead ball skills from pretty much everyone, players out of position, lack of skilled backup players, lack of any type of attack without Leao.

This game was pathetic and the players should be ashamed of this performance. it wasn’t even up to serie A level. It doesn’t give me hope for the Inter match.

Waiting for another Kjaer, et al. to explain another loss as a “mystery” despite video evidence providing clear cut answers of obvious mistakes.

  3. Pas d’objectif précis ? Ils voulaient une qualification en C1 l’année prochaine ? Ils sont qualifiés au 1/2 finale de la C1 pour cette année !
Résultat final : élimination pour 2023 et 2024.
