AC Milan defender Simon Kjaer has admitted that losing the Supercoppa final 3-0 to Inter ‘hurts’ and believes the talk of being a young squad must end.
Kjaer was interviewed by Milan TV after the game and was asked to reflect on a difficult night in which both the defence and the attack failed, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“We started badly, then it became difficult. They are good at what they do, but tonight we didn’t put the performance down as deserved. We have to look back, apologise to the fans,” he said.
On analysing the game: “We have to do it. We have to analyse this game and then start again, there’s no time to get over it but this game hurts.”
On what was missing: “The talk of being a young side is over for me. We need to grow as a team and take responsibility, we haven’t put our identity out there and we have to learn. It was a tough evening, especially mentally, but these moments we have to find our identity and we have to improve in so many aspects of the game.”
