Klopp brands Italian football ‘very good’ after Inter game: “I also like the Milan project very much”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed his belief that Italian football is in a strong position after his side’s games against AC Milan and Inter.

The Rossoneri faced Klopp’s men twice in the Champions League group stages, both times taking the lead and both times falling short. Milan went 1-0 down at Anfield in the opening game of the European campaign, roaring back to be 2-1 up at half-time before the home side came back and won it.

At San Siro, Tomori’s goal had Milan on course to make it out of the groups, but Salah and Origi made it 6 wins from 6 for the Premier League side in the group.

Inter faced them in the last 16 of the competition in what was a very difficult draw on paper, and Liverpool did the job in the first leg thanks to a 2-0 win, though the Nerazzurri did secure a 1-0 victory at Anfield to take some gloss away.

During his post-match press conference, Klopp was asked the following by a reporter: “How do you view Italian football after facing Inter and Milan?”

Klopp responded as follows (via MilanNews): “Very good, very good. I like it a lot. Both teams are strong, with players and different styles, but I also like the Milan project very much as well as the approach.

“Inter have more experience and a different approach, it is difficult to break free from them. Both teams have exceptional qualities. Atalanta also put us in difficulties, then the Juventus that we all know, then the Napoli that we have often faced. We are experienced with Italian football, when you know you have to face certain teams you don’t party, you know it will be difficult.”
