Klopp admits legendary Milan boss forms ‘the basis of everything’ that he does

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has admitted that a lot of ideas regarding tactical approach come from legendary AC Milan boss Arrigo Sacchi.

Sacchi is widely regarded as one of the greatest managers of all time and his Milan sides are also labelled by many as being among the greatest club sides to ever play the game both stylistically and in the results they obtained.

He worked as a shoe salesman before he managed Milan in a fruitful spell between 1987 and 1991, winning a Serie A title in his 1987–88 debut season and then dominating European football by winning back to back European Cups in 1989 and 1990.

Klopp was interviewed on 90th minute on Rai 2 and was asked about who he is inspired by in terms of a style of play that he tries to emulate, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“The most important coach I learned from is Arrigo, for all the things he did with his Milan. Those things have been implemented in our team and, when I became coach, I didn’t have time to look left and right, but the basis of everything I do is what Arrigo did,” he said.
