Koeman praises ‘super complete’ Reijnders and Zirkzee: “They form a good pair”

Tijjani Reijnders and Joshua Zirkzee were both on fire last night as the Netherlands prevailed 5-2 against Bosnia. The AC Milan midfielder scored a goal and assisted an additional one, receiving words of praise from Ronald Koeman afterwards.

Reijnders has become an undisputed starter for the Netherlands, impressing everyone at the Euros, and his good form with the national team continued yesterday. He scored a nice goal after a nice run into the box and managed to get an assist for the same reason.

After the game, as cited by De Telegraaf (via MilanNews), the Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman was asked about the performances of Zirkzee and Reijnders. Both combined well on several occasions and certainly led the team to the victory.

“Joshua Zirkzee is strong and plays with the team. Together with Tijjani Reijnders, he forms a good pair. Tijjani is a super complete midfielder with acceleration,” he stated.

Fonseca was likely watching on and it remains to be seen if he will field Reijnders in a more advanced role, seeing as he clearly works well in front of goal. Especially now that Milan have Ismael Bennacer and Youssouf Fofana to start in the midfield tandem.
