Krunic apologises to Milan fans after Sampdoria draw; explains Ibrahimovic impact

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan midfielder Rade Krunic has praised Zlatan Ibrahimovic and insisted all the was missing was a goal in Monday’s 0-0 draw against Sampdoria.

Milan dropped yet more points on home soil as they were held to a draw by relegation-threatened Samp side.

The Rossoneri failed to score for a third straight game and continued their woeful season of goalscoring in general as a resolute performance from Claudio Ranieri’s side earned a point.

Milan had a total of 13 shots with 11 being on target, but they could not find a way to beat Emil Audero despite the introduction of Zlatan Ibrahimovic early in the second half.

The result means that Pioli’s side remain in 12th place in the bottom half of the standings ahead of a tricky trip to Cagliari on Saturday.

After Ibrahimovic had received an amazing reception before kick-off, the Rossoneri emerged in their all black third kit for the Bank Holiday encounter.

Rade Krunic was interviewed by Milan TV after the game, and his words were transcribed by MilanNews.it.

“We didn’t manage to score, we did the rest well. We made some mistakes not to make, but the game and the opportunities were not lacking,” he said.

“I am very sorry and I hope that we will be able to score more goals and bring home more points. I feel good with Bennacer, we played a 4-3-3 with Empoli.

“Today was not my best game and neither was it for my teammates. We can do much better and be more decisive in the last 20 meters to better take advantage of the opportunities.

“Ibrahimovic? We know he is a champion and has huge class. As a man he surprised me a lot because he is a humble boy, if I can say boy (laughs, ed). Then he also speaks my language, so we had a great time.

“I’m sorry for that chance, I had to make better use of it.”
