Krunic: “I was not lucky enough to play for Red Star, I dreamed of it as a child”

Rade Krunic is relishing the Europa League tie against Red Star Belgrade given it is the team he grew up supporting, he has revealed.

The game will be a big chance for Krunic to once again show that the management are right for continuing to show faith in him given he seemed almost certain for a January exit due to a lack of playing time.

Despite this, head coach Stefano Pioli appears to view him as a functional and versatile member of his squad and numerous reports suggest he will be starting in the attacking midfield position for the game at the Marakana.

Krunic was interviewed by Sky Italia on the eve of the game and he spoke about the childhood dream he has regarding tomorrow’s opponent.

“I was not lucky enough to play for Red Star, I dreamed of it as a child. It is a great emotion to return to Serbia and play in a stadium I love,” he said (via MilanNews).

On missing fans: “We are looking forward to the return of the fans, we play football for passion, we are also happy with the opposing fans.”

Milan will have to respond well in Belgrade to regain some confidence ahead of Sunday’s derby against Inter after they fell to their first away league defeat of the season as they were beaten 2-0 by Spezia on Saturday.
