CorSport: Krunic to become key with Pioli returning to old Milan formation

Bosnian midfielder Rade Krunic could become a key player for AC Milan with Stefano Pioli ready to use the old 4-2-3-1 formation against Napoli, a report claims.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News), there could be a new role with heightened importance for Rade Krunic against Napoli on Sunday night.

Having made the switch part way through 2023 to a back three, Pioli is expected to return to the back four against Napoli now that Pierre Kalulu is out injured.

This could mean that he is going to use Krunic in the trequartista role that Franck Kessie used to play for the club, meaning there is more support in the middle of the park for Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer.

This also allows Rafael Leao to return to the left flank which is where he is undoubtedly at his best, and it will likely push Brahim Diaz out to the right wing.
