CM: Krunic likely to miss a month – Milan must now reflect and accelerate for new signing

By Oliver Fisher -

The injury sustained by Rade Krunic has increased the urgency that the AC Milan management have to sign a new midfielder, a report claims.

According to a report from Calciomercato.com, Krunic is expected to be out for ‘more or less’ one month, which places even more emphasis on the need to give Pioli another midfield reinforcement.

Raphael Onyedika of FC Midtylland, Jean Onana of Bordeaux and Adrien Tameze of Verona are all on the list of targets but in addition to the doubts on their asking price Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are also reflecting on whether they are the right profiles.

The Rossoneri management do not seem to be fully convinced as they were on Renato Sanches, so alternatives are continuing to be explored and the feeling is that a new and concrete pursuit could begin in the coming days.

The probable exit of Tiemoue Bakayoko and the absence of Krunic forces Maldini and Massara to take a step forward. While the interest in Ivan Ilic of Verona and Carlos Alcaraz of Racing Club is real, they are two players who – due to the price and conditions – are more being targeted to lay the foundations for future operations now.

  1. Krunic injury maybe a blessing in disguise if it forces the management’s hand. Offload bakayoko and bring in Onyedika as 3rd choice CDM, will be a half decent window, especially if we make a cheap deadline day move for Ziyech

  2. Milan is not a serious club. There’s a Florian Grillitsch who’s available for free but Milan chooses to distract itself with a youngster who needs more time to develop. And since Grillitsch is for free you can still sign your youngster.

    1. Boy they sure dont know how to be serious, jeez.. Barbosa, can you believe that they won the Schudetto and splashed 30mil on an unknown belgian kid, all while joking around,eh?

      1. You sure dont know football kid, that unknown belgian kid 32m euro last season win mvp in belgian league . You only know big name player with high transfer fee & big salary

      2. The scudetto was won by the players and not the management….this management have no clue on how Milan won the scudetto…..we won the scudetto yet we are acting as if we came up from serie b, this management is pure trash, we are just lucky Maldini is there, if not for Maldini, we would have returned back to the banta era

  3. The only thing that’s not serious is you guys ranting about krunic and milan’s market strategy. We did what we could, and it was good. You guys are just one bad match away from the next pioli out screaming.

  4. Tonali, Benacer, Krunic, Popega, Bakayoko, + Calabria(played last year when AFCON was as DMF and played well).
I think we will be fine. If we can play Florenzi as left defender when Theo is out then Pioli can find someone to fill that space as well.
    Forza Milan!

  5. Pobega is not ready and bakayoko need a string of matches to get on, krunic out for a month, benaceer and tonali prone to injury…..now we are all around looking for unknown mediocre players that are cheap and expecting them to magically be good….I will say it again, Sanchez was the man to go for, there is no midfeilder we will get that us better than him or that we will be able to replace Jessie…..we can’t even get onyedika, this is so frustrating, this team is a good team but the management is not helping at all.

  6. This is why signing Sanches was essential. Now everything we do is a step down in quality. Ndombele on a 1M loan with option to buy (w Spurs covering his salary) would have been fine considering our lack of options and $$ – but Napoli beat us to it. There is a simple solution, one that ownership (redbird) should make, if, as they claim, they want to defend the title and complete w the best in CL – and that is to raise the budget so we can sign a quality midfielder and CB. They can do that fairly easily. I’m not saying to give us another 40M (although it would be nice) – but to increase to give M&M enough that they need to sign a few more players they are after. I know I know, some fans on here will scream “but Redbird doesn’t own the club yet” LOL. Ya, that’s not how it works. It’s their club – they aren’t backing out (a breakup fee). They can give M&M an increase to their transfer budget to get a few more quality players we need to complete the team – at the very least to add more depth. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem likely they will do that but they could and should.
