Repubblica: La Maura stadium project also hits obstacles to anger Milan and Mayor Sala

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan’s idea to build a new stadium of their own at La Maura has begun to hit obstacles which have disappointed both the club and the mayor of Milan, a report claims.

As has been reported by La Repubblica (via Milan News), the club have been continuing to work on their master plan to build a new stadium of their own away from Inter.

Their site of choice right now is La Maura and there was a meeting on Friday between Milan president Paolo Scaroni and Milan mayor Beppe Sala.

They plan to meet again next week as well and both parties seem largely on the same page. They are both, however, disappointed that the city councillors have taken very negatively to the plans with 29 out of 31 being against it.

Many of these councillors have not yet seen the plan so the club will continue working to convince them, but it suggests that it could be an extremely slow process.

  1. LOL. I’m beginning to think we have no intention with these owners to build our own stadium. Otherwise we would just go build in Sesto and be done with it. More delays more politics. Sesto is there and ready. Why switch to La Maura only to get bogged down in more politics like at San Siro??? Doesn’t make sense. Sesto is there. If they want to truly build a new stadium they would proceed with Sesto and end this endless circle jerk.
