Ardon Jashari came off the bench for Switzerland in their 1-1 draw against Qatar, but the Milan midfielder didn’t exactly get many minutes.

After a tough first season in Serie A, Jashari headed to the World Cup with a clear goal: to restore some confidence and show what he’s capable of. However, everything hinges on him getting enough playing time to do so.

Last night, Switzerland kicked off their World Cup adventure with the game against Qatar. One that they, on paper, definitely should have won. Indeed, they only managed to clinch one point after conceding a very late equaliser.

Jashari came off the bench in the 88th minute, so he didn’t really have any time, and it’s made even worse by the fact that Qatar scored their equaliser in the 93rd minute. In short, both the Milan man and Switzerland will be hoping for a better second game.

Bosnia will be the opponents in that one and after the huge failure yesterday, some nerves might creep in for Murat Yakin’s side. It remains to be seen if Jashari can get the chance from start but the feeling is that he won’t.

  1. Isak you can’t get enough playing time if the coach has better options. Jashari didn’t find time at Milan because he isn’t good enough and he isn’t in the Swiss starting 11 because there are better options. Can we just accept that? Playing time is earned not given, he hasn’t earned it.

    1. TBH, I don’t hear Isak saying he should play more, just that he didn’t. Disappointment for an ACM player. Maybe he’ll get his mojo back this year if he plays more. Sometimes moving up a level isn’t wise in terms of playing time. But, every player has confidence in their abilities, as well they should. Look at TJ’s first year at City. Well, the money is nice.

  2. The is a bad charm, disastrous every time he enters the field.

Entered the field on 89′ and conceded a goal 5 minutes later. Make no mistake, this is no coincidence.
