AC Milan have put forward a sizeable offer to winger Rafael Leao in the hopes of convincing him to renew his contract, a report claims.
As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) writes this morning, negotiations are ongoing between Milan and Leao’s entourage – led by the lawyer Ted Dimvula – over the extension of his current deal which expires in June 2024.
Dimvula provided some reassuring words yesterday to hit back at newspaper reports that Leao wants the €150m release clause lowering and that talks had hit a standstill after a meeting that took place involving Paolo Maldini.
The paper gives the details of Milan’s latest offer to Leao: the management have put on the table a fixed €6.5m net per year salary, with easily achievable bonuses added on top that mean it would rise to €7.7m.
It is an offer from the Rossoneri management that far exceeds anything they have put forward before aside from to secure the return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, given it is close to the €8m mark.
So what is the hold up if the release clause is not an issue. Something else is amiss, and maybe all these articles are as misleading as the man who still needs to sign on the dotted line…time will tell…
Heart is not in Milan. If he wants Milan, negotiation isn’t difficult. Milan needs to learn these lessons. Always prepare a draft agreement and get the player to write his request and sign it. Talking is worthless as players like Leao has no integrity. Otherwise he would have those old baggage with him in negotiation
If they can’t meet his demand they better put him on sale before its too late
Latest or last offer? How long will Leao’s agent(s) be playing this game where they pretend to be considering the offers while they’ve already cherry-picked the teams they want Leao to end up to?
When we continue to see every Milan negotiation playing out this way and dragging on for months, maybe it’s not the player, maybe it’s the way Maldini handles it. Even with his own negotiation.
Leao will leave for free as everyone else has. Year after year, same story is repeated and yet M&M do not learn anything.
