Simone Inzaghi and Lautaro Martinez each spoke about the derby after Inter’s rampant 4-0 win over Fiorentina last night, with both showing respect to AC Milan.
There are two teams who remain with perfect records after three Serie A games. One of them is Milan, who beat Bologna 2-0 in the first round, Torino 4-1 in the second round and then Roma 2-1 in the most recent game on Friday night.
Inter have matched their city rivals stride for stride, winning 2-0 against Monza in their debut, 2-0 away against Cagliari in their second match and then they put four past Fiorentina last night with Lautaro getting another brace.
The Argentine stands at the top of the Serie A scoring chart with five goals to his name, one above Olivier Giroud. After the match, he also spoke to DAZN (via Radio Rossonera) about the upcoming Derby della Madonnina.
Before the actual match, there is a derby with Giroud to be top scorer…
“I care, yes. I keep it next to me. I always try to help Inter and do a lot of work for the team, then if the goal arrives it’s always better. But the important thing is to win.”
What do you think of Milan, who you will face after the break?
“It’s a Milan that have strengthened a lot, they have quality players. We know the value of the team, but now each of us must think about our national team. Then we will certainly have time to think about Milan. It will be an important and beautiful match to play, like all the others.”
Inzaghi also spoke about the derby against Milan as well as Inter’s performance in the third round of the season.
Is your squad more complete than last year?
“Time will tell. We know we have had some important changes, we have renewed a lot by bringing in 12-13 new players who came with a lot of desire.
“We lost important players but we knew that some could leave, reluctantly. Experienced and young players have arrived and, thanks to the old ones, they are fitting in well.”
Will the international break make preparations for the derby difficult?
“We know what the Milan derby represents for clubs and fans, now there is the break and many international players will leave. We will wait for them, it was on the calendar and the boys are happy to play for their countries.
“Some will arrive on Wednesday or Thursday, we will play on Saturday and we will have the same time as Milan to prepare for it.”
What were the reasons behind your selection decisions?
“I proposed the same ones from the beginning, then there will be 7 matches in 22 days and everyone will be needed. We will also recover Acerbi, Sensi and Sanchez. Then I will change the setup from game to game.
“Pavard and Klaassen? Davy only trained yesterday, but we know him and he will give us a hand. He did two training sessions. I wanted to include him, then I preferred to include Asllani on whom I’m strongly banking.”
Mark my words: we will DOMINATE Inter in the derby. Yes they have great players and honestly duo of Lautaro and that traitor up top is lethal. Barella and Fratesi are better then all our midfielders(except Lord Krunic 🤣) but I think that we will dictate the game, and with firepower uptop(plus Chukwu of the bench) I think it will be easier then most people expect.
Don’t be overoptimistic.
Keep dreaming my friend
A lot depends on how players will come back from International.
I am hoping some injuries…. from Inter squad ☠️☠️
i hope we can beat inter with their full strength with just our bench player, and hope inter morale drop for long time
Power Rijnders
Hahaha ur comments are very funny do u expect this current Milan team to dominate inter
