CM: €4m man waiting for Milan debut – the Rossoneri’s strategy and a summer decision

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan made just one signing in the January window as Marko Lazetic arrived from Red Star Belgrade, but he is yet to play a single minute.

Calciomercato.com report how Lazetic arrived for €4m plus €1m in bonuses and 10% on the proceeds of a potential future resale, and it was a quick offensive from the Milan management who beat competition from Torino.

A lot of curiosity and expectation towards the young striker then followed but almost two months since his transfer, Lazetic has not yet made his debut with the Rossoneri, even being left off the squad list on several occasions.

However, Milan are in no hurry and are convinced by the operation they made. The Serbian teenager needed some time to get up to the right condition and he had some physical setbacks too, but he is working well to settle in and understand his new surroundings.

Of course, he has also joined a Milan team who are playing every game as if it were a final so throwing him in would be a real baptism of fire. The current judgement is that Lazetic is not yet ready to play for Milan, and the initial plan was to go to the Primavera first, but these months will serve him to grow.

Then, at the end of the season he and the club will decide what the best thing for his future will be: either staying in 2022-23 or being sent on loan to get playing time.

  1. Oh bb, have some faith. He will get his shot, just like Kalulu did. Look at where Kalulu is now. Maldini and co know what they’re doing
