AC Milan came from two goals down to earn a draw against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, with Diego Moreira the star of the show.
Milan put in a substantially below-par first-half performance, falling behind after Mattia Zaccagni was left unmarked to fire in at the far post in the opening exchanges. Then, Tijjani Noslin bundled in from close range as the Rossoneri once again failed to deal with a low cross from the left side.

However, changes were made at the break and the Diavolo roared back. Summer signing Moreira was brought on at left wing-back and he scored two wonderful goals inside three minutes to bring the scores back level.
There were half-chances to take all three points, but ultimately the spoils would be shared. It means that Milan remain unbeaten but miss out on the chance to go top of the table, a spot Lazio will hold for at least 48 hours.
First half: Dismal start
Amorim chose to make three changes to the starting line-up from the team that drew with Juventus last week. Samuel Chukwueze came on at right wing-back, Adrien Rabiot dropped back into the double pivot, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Alphadjo Cisse were named the attacking midfielders.
The first chance of the game fell to Milan inside three minutes, as a corner was recycled back in and met the head of Chukwueze, forcing a stretching save from Mandas in the Lazio goal.
At the other end two minutes later, Zaccagni found space to run into behind Chukwueze and sent a shot towards the far corner that Mike Maignan managed to palm away for a corner.
It was a sloppy start to the game defensive for the Diavolo as Lazio had another opportunity in the seventh minute. A lapse from Estupinan allowed a ball to be crossed in to Noslin, who fired straight at Maignan from close range.

In the 10th minute, Lazio did take the lead their early pressure suggested was coming. A move down the Biancocelesti’s left side saw Zaccagni cross low to the far post, where Cancellieri – completely left alone by Estupinan – arrived late and slotted in from a narrow angle.
Lazio then seemed happy to sit off a bit and have Milan try break them down. Chukwueze fired wildly over with an off-balance shot after cutting infield, then Mandas gave the ball away but Ramos was rather non-committal when he got the ball in a good area with back to goal and was crowded out.
The first half performance from Amorim’s men could be best described as sloppy and inattentive. Lazio again threatened when Frattesi got to a a near-post cross ahead of De Winter and flicked it into the side netting.
Milan tried to up the intensity in the build-up to the break with Strahinja Pavlovic – as he so often is – the main instigator. The centre-back started a charge forward and then got on the end of Chukwueze’s cross, but sent it over the bar.
Just when Milan perhaps needed to see the game out to half-time and regroup, they conceded another. Estupinan once again found himself beaten to a duel from a cut-back cross and Noslin bundled an effort against the crossbar. Then, De Winter cleared it onto the forward’s head, with the ball cannoning into a virtually empty net.
Second half: Diegoals
Amorim made three changes at the break, with Christian Pulisic, Diego Moreira and Yunus Musah the ones to come on, replacing Loftus-Cheek, Estupinan and Modric.
Milan’s start to the second half was livelier, with Pulisic and Musah immediately in the thick of the action. Chukwueze crossed from the left, but Mandas came out to snuff out the danger.
Ten minutes into the second half, Moreira went on a tearing run down the left that got him to the byline, where he checked back brilliantly and the ball eventually reached Chukwueze, whose shot was heroically blocked.
Just after the midway point of the first half, Milan got themselves right back into the game with a goal of real quality from Moreira. Pulisic was decisive again, opening the move with a wonderful back heel and the setting it up with a floated cross to the back post for the Belgian, who finished from a narrow angle with an incredible volley.

Just two minutes after the first goal, Milan drew themselves level in the game and it was Moreira who again popped up in the right place at the right time. Musah won the ball back in midfield, whipped in a cross for Rabiot whose lay-off was hammered first-time into the bottom corner by the wing-back, making it 2-2.
Alphadjo Cisse was very close to making it three goals in four when he let fly with a trademark right-footed curling shot from a narrow angle on the left side of the box, though it didn’t quite bend enough inside the bar post.
Omari Hutchinson came on in the final 15 minutes, and the threat continued to come from the substitutes. The Englishman crossed teasingly towards Ramos, but Mandas came out to punch. Not long after, Moreira lashed into the side netting going for his hat-trick.
With just over five minutes left, Amorim rolled his final dice as Francesco Camarda made his debut for the season, coming on for Ramos.
The final half-chance of the game would fall to Milan and to Hutchinson. A free-kick 35 yards out was laid off to the summer signing, who let fly with a wicked shot that was unfortunately straight at Mandas.

I failed to understand how in the world we still keeping Estupiñán!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the best part was that he took him out himself… RLC, Estupido out and we started to play again
Watch Amorim start Estupinan against Benfica again…
So it’s clear who should start?
Modric, RLC and Estupinan simply shouldn’t.
Amorim needs to get the starting 11 right. But I am patient enough to give him time but please no more RLC and Estupinan.
Pulisic, Omari Hutchinson, Musah and Morriera must start every game. Modric has to be on the bench man. He doesn’t have the legs to start or play full 90mins.
Our starting line up should be:
Pavlovic, De Winter, Gila
Morriera, Musah, Rabiot, Chukwueze
Omari Hutchinson, Pulisic
Ramos
💯
This much. Hutchinson looked lively too.
*Moreira
Cisse is very good I think he should be the starting 10 together with pulisic. The attack with him and pulisic was more devastating than pulisic and Hutchinson though this is Hutchinson’s first start the combination of those 3 as the understand themselves will be devastating and brutal
I’m sure about that. I’ve seen Omari Hutchinson play and he’s a better option than Cisse.
Once Omari gets more minutes I think Cisse will be on the bench because Pulisic plays on the right and Omari Hutchinson plays on the left. That’s why Milan signed Omari.
Hutchinson played for the Jamaica national team and as a Jamaican I can tell you for a FACT he is a very good player who can shoot AND score really well with both feet especially from long distances.
Milan signed Omari so he could play on the RIGHT, not on the left.
Thanks Lazio
Best game so far
Now Amorim should know whose the starting eleven should be
Problem was that players needs to get fitness first.
Only problem with Amorim was why he started him instead of Bartesaghi
But amorim will see eventually that Estupido cant play with us.
Am glad some poeple are beginning to appreciate Musah. Some players need coaches who will trust them in the process. Though not world class level, he is doing his work simple and nice. Forma Milan
finally he gets coach that click with him.. but maybe that loan experiences also gave him something in the process. I personally kinda dislike these types of player who’s only worked with a specific type of coach.. given that before amorim there were already 3 different coaches who couldn’t handle him..but as long as it works now, it’s good..
MM- Gila, De Winter/Gabbia, Pavlovic- Saelemaekers/Chukwueze,
Musah/Modric, Rabiot, Moreira- Chukwueze/Pulisic, Pulisic/Cisse-
Ramos (recipe for success);
I said it back then. Modric rabbit pairing wud be suicidal. Modric shud have been allowed to retire or be kept as backup and just for experience purposes. He can’t offer the energy needed in this system. The second goal was his fault. That low cross shunt have made way at all after Gila’s effort. Well, I don’t think anyone will blame amorim for using musah again now. Dude will only get better with more games. Let’s unlock jashari too. Rabbiot was a total failure in d first half too we can’t rely totally on him. Rlc and estupinan shud not enter d field again. Didn’t even know rlc played. At least estu showed up with his usual mistakes
Ruben! Ruben!! Ruben!!!
How many times did I call you?
Please don’t start Modric, RLC and Estipunan again because they make the team too slow and predictable in every aspect.
We need that energy in pressing and that is where the team that played the second half of the game today should always be starting.
Hmmmmmm a word they say is enough for the wise.
Thankful for this match as it should be clear by now that our starting line up should look like the 2nd half. Modric has to be limited now as he leaves far too many holes in this current system. Musah Rabiot look decent together. Rabiot can also dictate the tempo ala Modric.
Pulisic? You can put him on CB and still he’s our best player.
100% hope this 2nd half proves to amorim that Rlc, Esupian should never play unless everyone else is on vacation or something. Modric should be a back up and someone in the 2nd half for 10 mins or so if we are leading. At 41 players are brought in to teach the young ones how to play and to offer their leadership in the dressing room and NOT “to dictate the tempo” because they simply can’t at that age. Amorim should have seen these issues before the season started. Hope he learns from it.
So what has Amorim been doing with the lineups? How is that he has kept Estupinan? So glad to see Puli and Camarda finally play today.
Could anybody figure out what the pressing scheme was in the first half? It seemed like they were inverting the base and top of the box midfield on the left. It looked like they were trying to do something tricky on the left and it looked so bad. I thought it was simpler in the second half.
Going forward, it looks like Musah has earned a spot in the pivot. I like Musah and Modric or Musah and Jashari, with Rabiot sometimes at the 10 and sometimes in the Musah spot. RLC is probably odd man out for a while. Pulisic should see regular time at the 10. I want to see more Camarda, getting regular cameos with 15 minutes. On the wingbacks, Moreira went from Estupinan 2.0 to prime Theo in one game. I think Chuk has been decent, but I expect to see more Saalemaekers and Moreira. I’m fine seeing plenty of rotation. That’s good!
Great comeback. I didn’t think we could do it after that abysmal first half. But great strikes by Moreira and great link up play by Pulisic. Major game changers. And the quite game changer of….dare I say… Musah. Hutchinson looked lovely too for the short minutes he got. I’m surprised how well he integrated and got up to the speed of the game in such a short time. There are signs of some things working
Problem was Modric because at a time I was looking for Cisse to press but I couldn’t why? Because they needed to protect Modric but the moment they changed Modric for a fast energetic player like Musah it freed Rabiot to express himself better and play his game. This system like someone rightly pointed out is 11 attack and 11 defend all in unison and that is the beauty of the system which we saw in the second half.
I love Modric as a world class player but sometimes he slows down the game too much and our opponents can get back into their defence shape too easily when Modric has the ball.
With Musah he will try to play the ball quicker and he doesn’t stay on the ball long. He’s also better and more aggressive at recovering the ball.
100% correct. Thank you for spotting it.
With Amorim’s tactics Musah is indispensable.
Probably Musah-Jashari should be the double pivot. But let’s see how the season evolves.
RLC and eSTUPIDnan should not start, except everyone is injured, and only academy players remain
