Santiago Gimenez is one of the players who could leave AC Milan this summer, but according to a report, he most likely won’t be heading to Lazio.
After a poor ‘second’ season with Milan, failing to find the back of the net and struggling with injuries, Gimenez has been linked with a move away from the club. The Goncalo Ramos signing and the declared faith in Francesco Camarda were further clues of that.

However, like with some other players at Milan, finding a new club might not be that easy this month. Lazio have been mentioned since the start, with Gennaro Gattuso seemingly keen on reviving the Mexican, but the deal remains difficult.
No loan opening
According to the latest from Alfredo Pedulla, there have been contacts between Lazio and Gimenez’s entourage over a potential transfer. However, the Biancocelesti made it very clear that they can only sign him on a loan formula.
Milan, on the other hand, aren’t keen on this formula at all as they want to sell the striker permanently, closing the chapter on a failed investment. Per the journalist, therefore, there has been no progress since the contact as the Rossoneri haven’t changed their stance.
Let’s see if something changes towards the end of the transfer window, or if another club joins the race. The fact that Gimenez is currently injured doesn’t help the situation…
If ACM keeps him, he needs to play, otherwise his value plummets. I think teams smell blood in the water with ACM. Too many players need to be moved.
The only way he gets enough value to be worth anything, either as a sale or a player, is if he gets game time somewhere – personally think most of this is made up; no way we wouldn’t be open to a loan for him at this point, although IMO Porto would make more sense if there were anything real to it.
Lazio waited for Ivanovic and he picked Lens to play in CL. Also loan with option or obligation, not 100%. Now they went for their 2nd choice – Gimenez. But they don’t have money. So I am quite positive this is true.
All fair points, but I don’t see why we wouldn’t be open to it then. I highly doubt Porto are offering anything more than a paid loan with some conditional obligations, at best.
Because Gerry Cardinale (US banker that can’t tell you all the rules of football) is in charge and he hired world class staff to handle transfers. Fiorentina has a better transfer window because they have someone with experience doing it. Milan has 2 guys from the backroom, nobody ever heard off.
He needs to play well. not just play. It’s not just about game time. He needs to start scoring goals.

Swap for nuno tavares… lazio would have to give us a bit of cash still though. Tavares is only worth 12 million??? He was deadly when he first arrived at lazio. Was one of the best left backs two seasons ago in serie a. And bonus in some ways being portuguese and can play on the right too.
The best milan can get from santi was loan + obligation to buy.. no one clubs want to gamble from his performance…
