Lazio president Lotito claims he rejected ‘€140m offer’ from Milan for Milinkovic-Savic

By Oliver Fisher -

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has made the claim that he turned down a huge offer for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic from AC Milan five years ago.

Milan have been heavily linked with a move for the Serbia international at various points while he has been in Italy, but it seemed to be while Leonardo was in charge that the rumours were the most concrete.

In the summer of 2018 the Rossoneri were looking to bolster the midfield after a season in which the squad disappointed after so much investment, and Milan TV’s Mauro Suma actually revealed that the club bid €120m for Milinkovic-Savic which was rejected.

Lotito spoke during an interview with the Rome-based newspaper Il Messaggero about the future of Milinkovic-Savic and he revealed an interesting background for a few years back.

“It’s true. I decided to turn down a €140m offer from Milan for Milinkovic-Savic in 2018. It was €60m plus €80m payable in five instalments in case of Champions League qualification. I don’t regret it,” he said (via MilanEye).

Now, it seems that a new adventure in Saudi Arabia beckons for Milinkovic-Savic, with Al-Hilal pushing to sign him above all.

    1. This was probably when the Chinese screwed up the club by spending €200 million in one transfer window, and it got us 6th and disqualification from Europe, so much for spending crazy money.

  1. LOL. Yeah, Lotito has enjoyed all the scudettos and other trophies keeping SMS brought them. It’s not like 140M€ could have brought in deeper and better squad, right? 😀

    1. Gigi man who believes in fairy tails? Lotity may be?

Why would a man with honour of a Lotity even say such things?
Maybe he is not so honourable and just a gutter rat or maybe he is just jealous of the history Milan have at winning under the great Berlusconi and his great reign
Lotity go home and be miserable on your own

  2. you fans loved the Chinese, spent all that money on garbage players but hey atleast during transfer window you could brag on twitter about Milan spending 220m

If you were also wondering why Milan is in so much debt now is because of that windows, literally 90% of that money was counted as a loss couldnt even sell a single player for decent amount of money.

    1. You do realize that no one here says they would have supported this deal and ive actually always wanted sms to join us and i included wouldnt have supported this deal.
Sure there were some clowns saying “we are so rich” on twitter but that is basically the lowest form of communication where people troll and post idiotic memes to get likes so how about you stop making up bs because pretty much every post of yours is pure nonsense and boderline trolling the comment section.

      1. Right, people complaining in every post why Milan doesnt just cough up 30m for every club that ask for it says otherwise, you lot think money is a joke since all you follow is EPL and the PSGs of the world and think Milan should be the same

Thank god Milan isnt a UAE club, screw that

        1. HAHAHA you freaking nimrod ive been an ac milan fan for over 30 years and i dont care much about english football or psg for that matter, Id rather eat a gun than playing in an arab club if i were a pro footballer and i was also outvoiced against investicorp buying milan and was in support of redbird but they simply has been a huge dispointment up untill now so keep making up bs as it seems like the only thing you actually can do.

          1. “Saudi Pro League is Super League now. Give it another couple of years.”

No one gives a **** what happens there. Except people who are fans of certain superstar players – not clubs. And still… If you’re not playing in the UCL you’re not amongst the best. 🙂

Did anyone follow the Chinese league when it lured in the stars? Nope.

  3. I hope he doesn’t leave for Saudi. I rather see him stay in Lazio. He’s a very good player. It’s good for Serie A to have big players like him in the league.
