The Champions League race continues to get more and more intense as each week passes, and now there might be only two spots available.
This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) takes stock of the top four race and writes how Lazio – with yesterday’s victory away against Spezia – have created a sizeable gap between themselves in second and the rest of the pack.
The victory in Liguria has put them eight points ahead of their city rivals Roma in third while Milan are behind by nine points, albeit with both the Giallorossi and Rossoneri having played a game less.
Nine points is a distance that was frankly unthinkable at the start of the season when Milan were coming off the back of the Scudetto win with Lazio having finished outside the top four. It is a gap that Stefano Pioli’s men must try to bridge if they want to qualify for the next Champions League.
Don’t worry. Milan will still be in the Champions League next season.
As the reigning champion…
LOL
Big problem is when Juventus get their points back…
