Lazio are braced for the exit of central defender Mario Gila as early as the summer window, with both Milan clubs keen.
It is well known that Milan are in the market for another options for the centre-back department, especially with the presumed return to playing in European competitions from next season. Gila’s name has been regularly linked in recent months.

Exit ‘inevitable’
According to Corriere dello Sport, Gila’s departure seems inevitable. He hasn’t received a renewal offer from Lazio, perhaps because the club believes the Spaniard’s rejection is a given. He earns just over €1m net per season, below the minimum threshold given his calibre.
The fact is that the contacts of recent months have not yielded any further details. Inter and Milan’s interest has been circulating for some time. Lazio, in the event of a sale, must pay 50% of the sale to Real Madrid.
Losing him for free would leave them with nothing, but they would forgo some revenue. In four months, the club will be called upon to intervene. There’s a risk of losing both Gila and Alessio Romagnoli leaving, prompting a defensive rebuild.
Gila and Romagnoli are among the few men keeping Maurizio Sarri afloat, for now and who knows for how long. Before thinking about what will happen with their future, the two centre-backs need to finish the season with dignity and try to pull off a Coppa Italia triumph.
