CorSport: Lazio serious about Romagnoli and put forward raised contract offer worth €31m

Lazio appear to be serious about signing Alessio Romagnoli on a free transfer as they have raised their contract offer to him, a report claims.

As reported by il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), Lazio president Claudio Lotito is going further in order to sign the defender and make him the new captain of the club. Romagnoli is a Lazio fan so the idea of one day joining them has always been on his mind.

Lotito’s latest offer is €3.2m net per season fixed, which is a very high figure even if it is far from his current salary at Milan which is €5.5m. The Rossoneri have made an attempt to keep him with a lower offer than that and he now seems inclined to accept Lazio and fulfil a personal ambition of sorts.

Maurizio Sarri has also given his approval to the move because he believes that Romagnoli would raise the quality of the defence. A five-year deal is ready which would therefore be a commitment of €31m gross.
