FT: Lazio 1-0 Milan

Milan have been knocked out of the Coppa Italia, following a late winner by Zaccagni. It almost felt like the Rossoneri and Max Allegri were waiting for the penalties, then the goal came. Clearly, there is still a lot of work to be done.

Clear tactical foul.

Two more subs for Milan...

On: Modric, Pulisic.

Off: Jashari, Loftus-Cheek.

Goal for Lazio

Mattia Zaccagni with a header, he was left with loads of space on a corner. Not sure who was supposed to mark him there…

71'
HUGE MISS LEAO!

What an absolutely wonderful pass by Jashari! Estupinan then does everything right to find Leao who, however, fails to find the target…

69'

RLC heads it wide! Rabiot with the run into the box, and it’s a great little cross towards the back post. However, no luck for the Englishman.

65'

Loftus-Cheek now playing in Saelemaekers’ position, by the looks of it.

64'
First sub for Milan...

On: Nkunku.

Off: Saelemaekers.

60'

Decent corner routine there, but Saelemaekers’ effort is straight at the keeper in the end.

51'

Loftus-Cheek! First chance of the second half as Estupinan picks out the Englishman in the box, but his header isn’t on target.

46'
Second half is underway!

We are back up and running at Stadio Olimpico. If the teams can’t decide this in the next 45 minutes, we will go to penalties.

HT: Lazio 0-0 Milan

Not the most entertaining first half, as has seemingly become a theme for Milan, with very few chances created. They at least managed to keep possession for long spells, while Lazio didn’t exactly create much either, but we still need to see some improvement.

45'

One minute added on.

45'

Maignan makes a good save on Isaksen after failing to get his initial clearance far.

38'

First real good chance for Milan, following some chaos in Lazio’s penalty box, but in the end it’s an easy collection for the keeper.

30'

Zaccagni complaining about the most obvious foul on earth, bringing Jashari to the ground. Laughable.

24'

Basic fires just wide for Lazio. Maignan either knew that was going out or he wouldn’t have been able to save it.

23'

Lazio have certainly been more dangerous in the final third, with Milan struggling to break through properly so far. The Rossoneri have been very patient in possession.

10'

Huge mistake from De Winter there, but Lazio somehow fail to make the most of out. Very lucky for Milan.

9'

A lot of back and forth so far, but at least Milan have had the ball a little more in the last few minutes.

  1. Oh. E—Estupido is playing!
This will be a spectacular show. lmao. A clown show

It’s a rotation, get it. He is the only sub on LB.

Ricci – good defensive midfield performance

    Big Offensive accomplishments

    RLC 0
    Rafa 0

    ———–

In summary, DeWinter did poorly. Tomori and Saelemaekers had concerning errors. Maignan, Ricci, Jashari, Rabiot, Estupiñan, and Pavlovic did well. RLC and Rafa were not bad (except for RLC missing an easy header) but also not good.

  3. We look as one might expect with Jashari and Ricci in the midfield and RLC at the 10.

They are disjoint. Clearly haven’t played (Jashari) or played much (RLC, Ricci). We will see this improve in the second half.

It is evident that Bartesaghi is the superior LWB. I don’t think we heard Isakson name in the weekend but Estupinan nearly lost him a couple of times. Glad for Bartesaghi rest but the question is answered for me.

With no shots on target it reinforces the Jashari, Ricci element. No flow from central midfield. Jashari in particular is not keeping up with the pace of the game. Can defn see his quality but he’s got some rust to knock off.

    1. Jashari actually did very well; what are you talking about? Only lost the ball once. Had numerous precise passes and fast turns with the ball. And this, after long injury and having his first start. That was actually way better than expected for a player in his situation. I’m pleased with him; very good game so far.

Estupiñan “nearly” lost his man? But he didn’t. Nearly losing someone but NOT losing him, is not an error. Estupiñan did well too. Not that I think that he is better than Bartesaghi, but he wasn’t bad in first half.

I thought that while Ricci is no Modric, he was active and precise too; a bit bolder than his usual shy performances.

Offensively we were pale. Not bad in terms of no huge and incredible misses (except that RLC could have done better in that good cross he received from Estupiñan), but also not good. Yes, it means that the midfield is not linking so well with the two front guys (could be a consequence of not having Modric but he did need the rest) and we miss Bartesaghi’s good and incisive support for the offense.

For me the real concern was that DeWinter lost the ball 5 times. He was our worse player in first half.

  4. This m.f. makes me angry….what the f… We need only one goal… fofana r so many change not bad at all…but offense…poor

  5. jashari has played pretty well despite being out for so long. Just glad to see he’s back. I think we are playing a little too conservatively, but overall defensively we are good. Still, I think we should push to win this.

  6. Imagine if Moncada’s vision came into fruition, we would have Estupinan and Emerson Royal on sides, Musah and Fofana in the middle, basically unstoppable 🤣

  7. Thank for the corner caused by the Master Estupidniann.. although there is not much of his fault, but still.. thanks

  8. Oh well. Still top of Serie A. Lazio can have their Coppa, since they won’t be playing in the CL any time soon.
