Le10Sport: Milan warned as Juventus and Inter ponder Fofana move

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan might have to hurry if they are to press home the advantage they have gained in the Youssouf Fofana race as two of their rivals are now in the mix, a report claims.

Fofana has been in Milan ‘s sights for some time now, as virtually all of the major sources have reported. Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani have identified the Frenchman as the right reinforcement for the midfield, a profile capable of shielding the opponent’s attacks but also helping in build-up.

According to Le10Sport (via PianetaMilan), Juventus and Inter could get involved in the race for Fofana. The Bianconeri have already made enquiries before they went for Khephren Thuram, while for the Nerazzurri it is a new target.

In any case, Milan maintain a significant advantage also thanks to having already verbally agreed terms with the player, who is open to the move. An agreement with the Ligue 1 club is still missing, so the deal cannot be considered closed yet.

According to the latest from Sky, the Milan management have increased their offer to Monaco to €12m plus bonuses but the French side are continuing to ask for a figure of €18m in order to sell, despite the fact he has a year left on his deal.

  1. I don’t like it. Juve and Inter are usually faster than we are. We need to close this fast or else we’ll lose him. Just pay up the 18 M. It’s not an outrageous price. We do need a DM and he can play DM.

  2. Juve already got Douglas , Thuram and about to buy Koopmieners, there is absolutely no chance they can be in the race… I wouldn’t trust this article one bit!

    1. I don’t see Juventus buying Koopmieners, Atalanta is demanding €50m nd another €10m in bonuses, Juventus will need to sell 2/3 players to pull that of, they ve already signed 2 midfielder in Thuram nd Douglas. The only they could achieve Koopmieners is through some sales.

  3. Juventus already bought 2 midfielders and they are looking for a 3rd when they have some positions to reinforce? Not a chance. Inter has already an established midfield and has different priorities and already bought Zielinski…. Frenchs, frenchs everywhere

  4. So I think that there’s a chance another side moves for Fofana before we do, we do seem to be intent on playing hardball and I see a situation where someone decides to take a punt.

However, if I was Monaco and trying to raise the pressure on Milan, this is exactly the story and the names you’d put out to the press.

  5. Doesn’t seem like we really want fofana. Doesn’t seem they improved the offer in weeks. Weeks!

If I was monaco I’d try and keep him for a year and let him go on free. For the salary he plays and his contributions it’s well worth it.

  6. As an Inter fan, we will never get him. We are stacked in midfield with Zielinski now joining and only need a cb, probably Kiwior or some Brazilian young guy

  7. I’m not really sure that Fofana is the best option. for me Andre, Pablo Maia, Vini Souza or Ezequiel Fernandez could be even better than him. but let’s buy the cheapest but still high quality.

  8. I think they’ll settle for €15 million, and he isn’t going to Juve or Inter. Juve have signed Doughlas Luiz and Thuram, where is Fofana going to play? Inter have signed Zelinski and made the moves for Augusto and Frattesi permanent, again where is Fofana going to play?

  9. In any case, I don’t see a good NOT to pay 18M€ right now to Monaco. It’s barely 6M€ above our last bid and he’s definetly worth that even when taking into account that he is in last year.
