Leao’s 2025 could be over after sustaining upper thigh injury – Landucci’s words

It was not all good news for AC Milan in their comeback win against Torino, as Rafael Leao left the field with what looked like a muscle issue.

Not long after Adrien Rabiot’s goal had made it 2-1, Leao attempted a wonder goal of his own with an effort from 25 yards out, but he dragged his attempt wide of the far left post.

Moments after that, it became apparent that the Portuguese had sustained a problem while letting go of that shot. He walked over to the dugout holding his groin and was brought off, with Samuele Ricci replacing him and Ruben Loftus-Cheek going up front.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Leao came off in the first half after feeling a problem in his right groin, perhaps the upper part of the adductor. Now, the question becomes whether or not he has suffered a serious muscle injury.

An MRI scan will provide a response in the next 24-48 hours, but at the moment it can safely be presumed that his 2025 may well be over, and that he will only return in the new year.

After the game, Marco Landucci – who stood in for the suspended Massimiliano Allegri – spoke to Sky. He was asked about Leao’s condition, and replied as follows.

“Leao will have tests tomorrow morning, he’s got a problem with his adductor. We hope it’s nothing serious. We won’t know anything until tomorrow.”

  1. Shocking how many games are being missed due to injury in the first choice squad.

Milan have had their best 11 together from the first minute literally maybe 2-3 times all season so far.

  2. This is what happens when you don’t rotate enough or bench even Leao sometimes. Let’s pray Modric & Pulisic will stay healthy despite working overtime.

    1. It’s what happens when you have such a short roster, even playing only once a week. This is the fault of the managers. Sure, our squad was too big before, but the remedy was too strong; we got too thin. I believe that due to the pressures of a short roster, Rafa was never allowed to fully heal since the Bari injury.

      1. Second this.
Our squad is thinner than every serie A team we’ve played against, even if we include players that have been out due to injuries.
We can’t use the excuse of “playing once of a week” because many teams we’ve played against also don’t have other commitments.
We have only 19 on-field players including one (1) true striker.
No matter what some poster(s) is(are) gonna think, we definetly need more players this january. Especially a striker and a central defender. Perhaps a RWB won’t hurt as well.

        1. In theory, our roster would be “close to optimal in size” IF there were no injuries ever. But as we have so many “injury-prone players” as many of the site-commentators love to shout, the number or (quality) players is in fact too few.

  3. Leao injury is not due to managers or rotation. It’s because Leao is being played out of position and the fact that we have to toil and mail before we can get results We struggle to score .This make these players to take unnecessary risks sometimes
