GdS: ‘A sad celebration’ – Leao’s birthday comparison shows significant changes

In the past year, it feels like everything has changed for Rafael Leao, who now seems to be heading towards an exit from AC Milan.

If it wasn’t already clear, Leao’s latest interview is further confirmation that he sees his time at Milan being done. The message was given at first and now, two further interviews later, it is blatantly obvious that he wants to move on.

At a certain point, it almost feels like he is begging to leave and whilst not there yet, it is impossible to suggest that point is not nearing.

With a full summer yet to come, too, who knows how many more interviews will arrive.

Leao’s decline in a year

It is quite strange how different this summer is to last summer, though. As Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanPress) recalled, last year he was valued at €100 million on his 26th birthday and it seemed he was stronger than ever in the Rossoneri sphere.

They had just hired a manager who wanted to further centralise his role, and he seemed to be in love with the project.

Now, his value has halved and it seems like staying is the last thing on his mind. Whilst he didn’t rule out staying in the latest interview, it felt very second thought. So, it is clear that he no longer believes in the project as it is…

What a difference a year can make.

  1. But he was never valued at €100 million. His maximum value was €90m and last year it was €70m.

    Then, upon researching there’s this:
    – “No publicly confirmed official offers are on record for Rafael Leão at AC Milan over the last 7 years.”

    He was never in demand.

    1. Well happy birthday Leao anyway, wishing Leao will score 27 goals the same like his age. But if he doesn’t leave ofc.
