MN: Leao delivers after promise to Tare and Milan – the proof of Allegri’s effect

Rafael Leao is certainly maturing, and his performances for AC Milan this season are showing as much, both mentally and literally.

With Leao, it has always been a case of the ceiling. How high can he actually go, and how far can he take Milan? At his best, there is no ceiling, and right now, it seems like the ceiling is gradually disappearing.

Whilst it is still early doors, the star looks like just that: a star. His performances are consistent – something which has eluded him for years – and he is regularly being the guy for the Rossoneri, often getting points by himself.

The promise to Milan

Before the game, Igli Tare said as much to the media, stating that he is a player who ‘wins games on his own’, and his assist for Strahinja Pavlovic was another example of this. However, as MilanNews relays, it also showed his mentality, that he wanted to carry the team on his back.

“I’m confident he’ll have a great game tonight because he even promised us that,” Tare stated before kick-off, and Leao delivered. Another assist, another example of his maturity, and even stepping away from the assist, he was a regular threat.

There has been a lot said about Leao in the past, but the future certainly looks bright, with him shining.

  1. Everyone ignores how lazy Leao is and only focuses on his specific good moments. We will never win anything if we base so much on an inconsistent player.

        1. Rafa averages 20 goal contributions a season just in the league since joining Milan. Beyond this he’s rarely injured, has zero off field conflicts or scandals and never speaks out of turn except maybe for the water break fiasco. He’s a class player and a class person. We are lucky to have him.
People hold him to the goal standards of an elite #9 when that’s never been his position. Stats wise he’s in the top 5 practically every season for wingers.

          1. Ok, you are the one that brought numbers..
There is a lot more to Football than just numbers.
Leao’s performances are inconsistent. Every coach, director, ex Milan player, ex Milan coach, football people that have nothing to do with Milan acknowledge that Leao is inconsistent. One game he plays great and than he has 3,4 bad games, that’s inconsistency.
Also, he averages 9 goals and 7 assists as a Milan player in serie A, not 20 as you claim. Matter fact he averages 22 goal contributions per season in all competitions as a Milan player. So, its not just about goalscoring..there are players in serie A that score 22 goals a season just in the league, not in all competitions with assists included.
If he is consistent, sky is the limit, but he hasn’t been.

          2. You are absolutely right.
I do want Leao to be a different player than what he is. The player that i want Leao to be is consistent, and because he isn’t he is frustrating a lot of Milan fans and Portugal fans.

        2. Ok 17 goal contributions in the league. He has the most assists of ANY player over the last five seasons. And I have to disagree, as a forward, numbers are what matter. When you have a winger who has the most assists in the league, I’d say that’s pretty consistent. Again he suffers because his athleticism is outrageous and because people feel he can do even more they are dissatisfied. Yet they shouldn’t be because the numbers do speak for themselves.

          1. And if as you say numbers aren’t anything we have to take into account his never speaking an ill word of Milan, never getting into trouble off the pitch, always behaving with magnanimity and integrity, and almost always being available. As far as being consistent, his positive attitude and ability to win a game on his own are always present.

          2. This is like talking to a Lebron fan.
“Lebron is better than Michael Jordan because he is married with his high-school sweetheart, never divorced, never been in trouble and his son wasn’t caught enjoying booger sugar. “. What does that have to do with who is a better basketball player?
What does Leao not speaking ill of Milan and not getting in trouble off the pitch has to do with him being inconsistent on the pitch?
            Thats a losing argument comment.
Yes , he is consistent off the pitch, but inconsistent on it.
His attitude during games is absolutely not positive consistently. He often mopes and doesn’t put effort during games.
Football is more than numbers, besides the bumbers being nothing to writehome about. He averages 7 assists per 38 games a season, but you keep bringing up assists, like he averages 15 or 20. Pulisic gives you the same numbers and better yet no one calls him inconsistent because even when he doesn’t score or assists he gives you work rate and constant running.

          3. You just want Leao to be a different player than he is. Therefore he will always frustrate you. Just sit back and be glad he’s not on the team you’re playing against.

          4. There is no way to convince people like him. He has a preconceived idea how Leao should be and that’s it. And if Leao played with Haaland for example he’d have 25 assists every season. He is obviously amazing as a winger and won’t score much more than he does usually but he could easily double or triple his assists with a top striker.

          5. Leao is our best weapon in attack, though his inconsistency in addition to his flaws not at his ease in tight spaces, poor Long passes and not that good at the shooting excercice (don’t pull out the Fiorentina goal it was just just an exception) that making him just good enough when deployed in the wing with wide spaces

          6. Leao being Inconsistent is just a fact. He provides assist in a game. How many times did we see that his run in the match? Once he gets an assist or scores, he relaxes thinking he has done his job for the day. That is being Inconsistent. Everyone in Milan keeps reminding him to do it multiple times in a match and even over the season. Dont think this is a hate on him, no but a call to be more active over 90mins. Reminding us of his MVP 5years ago speaks volumes of an Inconsistent player.

          7. The true is Leao is very lazy and needs to work more for the team, because we know and can attest that he has the talent, to excell and ranked among FIFA top 10-20 Players every season. Hope Allegri can change his mentality because he is that good.

      1. “Last time I checked we won Serie A with Leao being the MVP. 🤣”

Riddle me this, Batman: You people say Leao won us the scudetto. Why haven’t we won more than one? Leao has been here ever since.

  2. Without pavlo he didnt score the fist goal. Dont forget. I like rafa, i just want that he wakes up. He can do it better thats why i talk like that. He is still better than santi and chris fore sure… thank allegri and modric, he get the winner mentality back…forza rosso neri…it only matters milan tifosi…

  3. I think nkunku like the food in italy…😁 We need some time(2 month)…🤣 Dont forget he come from chelsea england bad food…😁🙏🏽
