Leao ‘happy’ with goal vs. Lazio and admits he needs continuity to improve

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan secured their third win of the season earlier this evening as they beat Lazio by to goals to nil. Rafael Leao was one of the goalscorers and he also put in a very good performance for the Rossoneri.

Leao has been criticised in the past for lacking the ever-important end product but this evening, he did well and got a goal to show for it. In our ratings, he got a 7.5/10 and he has certainly cemented his starting spot to the left.

In an interview with DAZN after the game, as cited by MilanNews, the Portuguese youngster shared his thoughts on the performance. He also admitted that he has lacked continuity in the past and that’s something he wants to change.

On his goal…

“I think it was a good goal but above all, there is the great work of the team who are working very well. I’m happy.”

On the game…

“It is clear that the great players want to play against the great teams. It was a great challenge in front of our fans, winning is always great.”

On winning without and with the fans…

“Winning in front of our fans is much better.”

On the requests of the coach…

“The coach and the team know my quality in dribbling. I try to help my team like this and I am satisfied with what I have done.”

On what he wants this season…

“What I lacked is continuity. I try to find it and to grow game after game and training after training.”

On Wednesday evening, Milan will take on Liverpool at Anfield and it remains to be seen if Leao will start. Ante Rebic also did well this evening so a lot will depend on who will start up front for the Rossoneri.
