AC Milan striker Rafael Leao has given some insight as to how coach Stefano Pioli has helped his abilities since his arrival.
Leao was probably the Rossoneri’s headline purchase of the most recent summer window, joining from Lille on a five-year deal. He has showed glimpses of promise but nothing more at present, and currently finds himself on the bench with the in-form Ante Rebic preferred.
Leao is the protagonist of the cover of the current issue of Calcio2000, and he discussed his relationship with Pioli.
How does Pioli encourage you to do better?
“Especially on the defensive aspect of my game and I think the results are starting to show. Every day I work just to improve some aspects of my game. The defensive phase is very important for an attacker in today’s football,” he said (via MilanNews).
You are at the beginning of your career at Milan. What would you like to win with the Diavolo?
“Well, it would be fantastic to be able to win the Scudetto and then maybe even take the Champions League home.”
