GdS: Leao has ‘increasingly clear and significant requests’ to renew after rejecting Chelsea

Rafael Leao and his entourage have laid out the demands for his contract renewal after rejecting the advances of Chelsea, it is claimed.

Carlo Laudisa – a journalist for La Gazzetta dello Sport – spoke on Carlo Pellegatti’s YouTube channel (via MilanNews) and was asked for updates regarding the situation of Leao’s renewal, which is one of the big issues that Gerry Cardinale will have to tackle after buying the club.

Laudisa reports that Leao has shown with facts that he is attached to Milan after refusing the advances of Chelsea in the summer mercato but he has ‘increasingly clear and significant requests’.

The Portuguese has a dispute with Sporting Lisbon worth €19m and the sum should be paid half and half between Leao and Lille. Milan came forward some time ago to offer a solution whereby the club pays half of the part due by Leao (therefore a quarter of the fine, with is €4.75m).

Then the other part of the fine would be paid by Milan but then discounted in the renewal over the next five years. However, in recent weeks Leao and his entourage have been clear that they want the fine money to be paid in full by Milan.
