Rafael Leao has admitted that the AC Milan squad have been fired up by some of the words circulating in the media doubting their spirit.
Milan ran riot at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona scoring twice in each half to register a 4-0 victory, and Leao ended his goal drought with a brace where both goals were right from the very top drawer.
Leao spoke to DAZN after the game to reflect on what was a memorable night and a huge three points but also a big step forward for him personally, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
Where does this victory come from?
“I knew it was an important match against a great opponent. We listened to a few words from outside which gave us more energy. I want to thank our fans and my team because we played an incredible game as a team. This is Milan.”
Just as the players began making their way out of the tunnel for the second half, Luciano Spalletti could be seen in heated conversation with Paolo Maldini and Leao, having seemingly been angered by the Portuguese winger’s celebration after the opening goal. He cleared up what it was all about.
Can you tell us about the celebration?
“I just want to respond on the pitch. I like listening to my coach, people outside the club don’t interest me. The things that come from outside, however, fire me up. I had a difficult couple of months, now I’ve found myself thanks to my coach and my team.”
Did you miss scoring?
“Incredible feeling, even if I hadn’t scored today we played a very good game and I’m happy.”
What does this mean ahead of the Champions League meetings?
“This match was important for the season, we want to achieve our goal which is to stay close to Napoli. The matches in the Champions League will be other matches and now let’s think about the match against Empoli at home.”
Who did you swap shirts with?
“With Kvara. I’m a big fan of Kvara, I like what he does on the pitch. I think he is similar to me, he likes to point the opponent. He is having a great season.”
Man what an awesome game. But the analysis underrated Maignan. It’s not just fluke to be in the right places at the right times. It’s skill, precision and experience. That’s why he’s France’s Number One
Its mean, Napoli and other seri a team will miss Tata…
