Another report has claimed that Rafael Leao is close to extending his contract with AC Milan by another couple of years.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport dedicated the front page to Leao, going on to state inside the paper that the Portuguese is getting closer to penning an extension with Milan that should shift the deadline from 2028 to 2030.

A continued love story

MilanVibes speak of ‘a love story destined to last more than ten years’ between Leao and the Rossoneri. Indeed, there are ‘strong indications coming from Casa Milan and the Portuguese’s entourage’ that a contract renewal until June 2030, is increasingly imminent.

Following the extension of Mike Maignan, the contacts over a new contract for the other former Lille star have been ‘increasingly positive’, with the foundations for extending his stay now being laid. It could take him beyond a decade at Milan, given that Leao joined in 2019.

A full agreement between the parties is ‘fairly close’ already. The figures are not yet known, but they shouldn’t be significantly different from the current €7m net per year including bonuses, given the Rossoneri’s salary cap pending potential Champions League qualification.

Leao currently has 10 goals this season, nine of which have come in the league, with two assists in 20 starts. His maturity, however, is seen above all in his value in the dressing room, with a change of attitude both in words (on social media, in front of the microphones and on the pitch) and in actions.

  1. Many have come and gone but it’s time for fans to understand that Rafa is a true Milanisti. No scandals or reproach. Always with a smile and passion. We should cherish and appreciate the player and the man.

  2. Well after all politics of since Elliott and RedBird era, Maignan and hopefully Leao stayed. To bad that Tomori didn’t becomed much stronger defender and one of the best in Serie a.
But Leao and Mike are the best, so salaried should be based by them. Anyone to get their salaries must become best of best.
In my opinion Puslisic should be next, and some should get lower salaries to stay as back up.options (loftus and tomori)
