MN: Leao misses pre-Napoli group training and ‘very unlikely’ to feature

Ahead of tomorrow’s game, Rafael Leao’s recovery has been a big topic. However, it seems AC Milan will have to do without their Portuguese star.

One of the first questions in Massimiliano Allegri’s press conference today was about Leao and whether he would be part of tomorrow’s team. Allegri’s reply was brief, but it was a case of it depending on training.

Now, an update has arrived, and it is unfortunately not a positive one.

Leao likely to miss Napoli

Leao did take part in training today, as MilanNews reports, but it was a solo session before the group took to the field. He followed a personalised plan and did not partake in anything with his teammates. So, his chances of playing tomorrow are slim.

In fact, he may not even make the bench for the game, which is rather unfortunate. It seemed like he would probably be among the substitutes, so this is a loss.

Of course, there is time for things to change, and he still may make the bench. However, Allegri has proven that he is unwilling to rush players back. Christopher Nkunku, then, will start the game alongside Christian Pulisic, and the pressure is on for a performance.

  1. I know money is important but winning the scudetto is more important than 7 mil. We aren’t going to have this advantage of no ucl again so we need our best players to be available for the league matches. I’d rather rest leao for the entire tournement if it means he’s going to be healthy faster.

  2. I’d rather lose to Napoli in the semis then lose to Inter in the finals. I think we can win but not at the cost of going for the seconda stella.

    1. Winning mentality right here.
If you don’t believe that Milan can beat inter in a game what makes you believe that they can win the scudetto especially with how poor they play vs the weaker teams in the league?

      1. It’s not about not believing Milan CAN beat Inter but it’s the “what if…”. It could be a loss that would change the mentality – for both teams.
