MN: Call-up from Portugal the latest boost for Leao – Milan’s vision has always been clear

By Oliver Fisher -

Rafael Leao has had a fantastic start to the season and this has been further amplified by the excellent news he received earlier today.

As MilanNews writes, Leao was called up for the first time ever for the senior national team with Portugal, and that is exactly what he deserves after showing off his growth on both a technical and also a mental level in the early seaosn.

Ever since that goal San Siro against Fiorentina in 2019 his talent has been clear to see, but the consistency was not forthcoming. Paolo Maldini rejected many enquiries from other clubs during the summer and the club’s will has always been clear: Leao is an important player that a sale is not in the plans for.

He has become more decisive in games as his goals against Cagliari, Lazio, Atletico Madrid and Atalanta show. In fact, before the game in Bergamo he was the player with the most successful dribbles in Serie A with 17.

Pioli is really satisfied with his attitude as per the report, and then the rest takes care of itself as Leao has qualities that are worth gold in modern football: he is quick, direct, good at dribbling and knows how to score. This could be the start of an explosion.
