CorSport: Leao ready but Allegri looks away with caution – who will start in Naples instead

AC Milan are back in action on Monday, and there was a shock return yesterday when Rafael Leao trained with the team. However, he may not be ready yet.

When it was reported last night that Leao had trained with the group, the feeling was that maybe the Rossoneri could see him return to action straight away. After all, he has spent the last two weeks working on his fitness, trying to get to 100%.

Indeed, the Portuguese is reportedly pushing for a starting spot, insinuating that Massimiliano Allegri currently has a different idea and that has now been confirmed.

Leao back, but not yet

In this morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, it is reported that the Italian will operate with extreme caution where Leao is concerned. After all, his injury has returned on a few occasions now and he cannot afford another relapse.

So, it appears that Leao will not start from the first minute, despite the importance of the game in Naples. Instead, that spot could go to Christopher Nkunku, who is currently preferred.

As MilanNews24 relays, the Frenchman was left at Milanello over the break and he is now in an ‘enviable condition’ physically. After being left out of Didier Deschamps’ France squad, he has an extra motivation and wants to leave it all on the line in the next few games, starting in Naples.
