AC Milan winger Rafael Leao has revealed that playing in the Champions League was a dream come true for him, but admitted that the focus is now on tomorrow’s game against Juventus.
Going into the new season the challenge for Leao was always to establish some more consistency in his game, and with three goal involvements in his first four games of the season, there are certainly positive signs that the development of the Portuguese forward is progressing well.
Leao was interviewed exclusively by SportMediaset on the eve of the game at the Allianz Stadium tomorrow, with his words transcribed by MilanNews, and he began with a reflection on Wednesday’s defeat against Liverpool.
“Playing in the Champions League was an emotion for me and also for my family, it was my dream to play there,” he said.
There has been a lot of debate about the best position for Leao and he was asked for his personal opinion on whether he is better as a winger or closer to goal as a centre-forward or a second striker.
“On the left I think I can make a difference with one-on-one, dribbling, cross and assist.”
The Rossoneri will make the trip to Turin looking to make it four wins from four to begin the new Serie A season but also win back to back games at the Allianz Stadium and open up a large points margin over their old rivals.
“It’s a good match, we play against Juve which has great players. We have to be careful but we go there to win. We are Milan, we are first in the table. It is still early to think about winning the Scudetto, but if we win tomorrow then we will have even more confidence. But it is still early.
“I think the most important thing is to win a trophy and play the Champions League. I want to win here.”
