Official: Leao sent home early by Portugal due to sub-optimal physical condition

AC Milan have been given notice that Rafael Leao will return to Italy sooner than expected, after he was sent home by the Portuguese national team.

It has been an interesting international break for Milan, in that you can debate whether it came at a good time or not. However, the events of said break have certainly not been ideal, which is just the club’s luck.

A few knocks have caused a bit of concern; however, there is nothing too extreme to report. With that said, they have been given another international back before expected.

Leao returns to Italy

In a statement released by the Portuguese National Team this morning, it is confirmed that Leao will not be involved in their game against Hungary, and has been released from the national team. The decision was made by Roberto Martinez.

What must be made clear is that the decision has been made due to the star not being up to speed, with the statement saying the decision was made, ‘considering the physical condition of the player who participated, coming off the bench, in the Portugal-Republic of Ireland match’.

This is not an injury, but rather Leao not being ready for their next game.

Instead of preparing for another game this international break, he can prepare for the Fiorentina game on Sunday.

  1. Leão’s injury is either more serious that we thought, or he is doing a really poor job at recovering/rehabilating himself, or he decided “F**** this season, I’m clearly not liked by my coaches, so let’s just go through the motions and not do efforts”.
Either way, this season doesn’t look very promising for him.

  2. Wow, the comments here a much harsh than I expected.

But I agree that things are not looking good.
I sincerely hope that he was sent early because he is not fit. On the other hand if it is just a news for the media excuse to get rid of him, then Damn!

  3. I am not going to be ungrateful as most of you are in this place everybody has his own low term in life and it’s part of life. Some times we are at the highest side and some times we are at our lows but coming back strongly is never undone. All he needs from us is support not this nonsense all of you are saying above. For the past years he has been the engine room for the team until last season when you all started ganging up against him. If he’s not good the management would have sold him yet they retain his services.
That was how most ungrateful fans were calling for the sell of Savicevic to be sold in 1994 but he came up to destroy Barca in the champions league final where we won 4-0 while all the journalists in Europe gave Milan 5%chance in that game
So everyone should keep quiet and stop this unhealthy ranting any time Milan player has a negative moment. It’s life and everyone has his low moment. Do you have everything perfect going for you always? No so don’t come here and act as if Leao isn’t human. Stand up for him and encourage him instead of killing him morally. Leao will be back and shame all of you

  4. WELL SAID ? My Assssss… You can t teach EFFORT ! He does not want to play the defensive style of the coach . So ,he won’t !!! Stop living in the past. LAZY LAZY LEAO … SELL !
