Rafael Leao has apparently told friends that he will be staying at AC Milan in what is yet another intriguing twist in the new contract saga.
According to a report from La Repubblica (via MilanNews), Leao made clear his thoughts on his future as he told friends: “I will stay at Milan.”
As for the negotiation over a new deal, the hypothesis of a bridge deal until 2025 is currently excluded by the club. The biggest obstacle to overcome is still the fine that Leao has to pay to Sporting CP.
It is a big step that Leao seemed to pledge his allegiance to Milan privately, while directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara would like to close this endless negotiation after the quarter-finals of the Champions League, therefore at the end of April.
For now though focus must remain on the field and on the attempts to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time in over 15 years.
Not happening
Sell.
Fools who call themselves Ac milan fans are the ones who don’t know what they call having quality players in a squared, Especially those players who still have room for growth.
I don’t think you’re a fan. Pls always think before you come out here to speak.
Room for growth is irelevant when a contract is ticking towards free agent 2024. If he does not extand by june 2023, sell away.
If it was up to me anyone is for sell for the right €€€ but Mike, Theo, Benacer and Tonali. For them Milan should demand a very high price.
Gotta sell, reinvest and grow. That is the way the club will become stronger
Agreed. No player is more valuable than the club and, until Milan are able to consistently achieve top 4 finishes and to sell fringe players frequently for decent sums, then you have to look past the emotional attachment to the player and invest in the future.
Whether you love Leao, Tonali, Maignon, Hernandez or whoever… they will happily jump at a chance to double their salary with PSG or Man City, so we need to take advantage of that as much as possible or we just end up losing them for free anyway.
There is, of course, sometimes good reason to lose a player for free. Not being able to find a replacement capable of getting us into the top 4 the following season being the main one. But with as much notice as the scouting and management team have had about Leao leaving at the end of next season, there’s really no excuses for that in this instance.
You can’t grow when you keep selling your quality players without getting proper replacement.
DUH. Thats why you get proper replacements.
