Rafael Leao has been working hard at Milanello even during rest days in order to try return as soon as possible.
Leao sustained an injury in Milan’s 2-0 win against Bari to open the season, reported a calf issue shortly after scoring the opener. He has been recovering since and was not risked in the first two Serie A fixtures against Cremonese and Lecce.

According to Sky (via MilanNews), Allegri has given his players a few days’ rest, and they will resume training on Tuesday 9 September ahead of Sunday evening’s home match against Bologna at San Siro.
Leao, however, was present at Milanello anyway. The Portuguese also worked during the days of rest and is doing his best to be available to the coach as soon as possible, perhaps even for the next match against the Emilian side at the weekend.
Of course given that it is a muscular issue and in a delicate area, the former Lille man will not be risked. However, it seems as though Allegri is planning on having him back soon and is pondering how to line his side up to make use of the fact he has four forwards available potentially for two roles.
And people said he dosent work put enough
The arrival of nkunku means there’s will be tough and perhaps healthy competition in the squad for his position, hence the need for him to always be in top shape
Pulisic and Gimenez are arriving late this week due to their NT games being on the 10th or 11th.
Leao and Nkunku should start the match on Sunday if possible.
He should start on the bench if he is fit ….hope they dont rush him in
