Lecce manager provides brilliant response to Camarda narrative: “It’s a lie”

Eusebio Di Francesco provided a pretty funny yet necessary response to Francesco Camarda’s lack of playing time during a presser yesterday.

Camarda joined the Via del Mare side on loan at the start of the season, a loan which includes both a buy-out and a buy-back. The idea was that Lecce would be more incentivised to play the youngster, thus avoiding a situation where he wouldn’t get any playing time.

Sure enough, he got the chance almost immediately and even bagged his first Serie A goal. A shoulder injury then brought everything to a halt at the start of the year, with Milan and Lecce opting for surgery to fix a shoulder problem.

Lecce put their foot down

The striker still hasn’t recovered and thus hasn’t been at Eusebio Di Francesco’s disposal for most of this year. Despite this, some have pushed the narrative that Camarda hasn’t been getting enough playing time at Lecce, most likely in an attempt to criticise the loan.

During his press conference yesterday, ahead of the game against Bologna today, Di Francesco provided a pretty funny response to the idea that Camarda hasn’t been getting enough space.

“Camarda scored in the reverse fixture [Lecce-Bologna]. I hear former players and others say that he doesn’t have any space at Lecce, but do they know that he’s injured? That he has had a shoulder injury? Or are they living on another planet?

“I think the boy was taken into great consideration while he was at my disposal, despite the very young age. When people say that we don’t care about young players, that’s something that bothers me because it’s a lie,” he stated.
