Former AC Milan midfielder Gianluigi Lentini believes that it is still too easy to tell whether the Rossoneri are Scudetto favourites, but praised several of the key protagonists.
Lentini spoke exclusively to the microphones of MilanNews about the season that Milan are having, one that has seem them thrust into the Scudetto battle which is something that you can bet on using the latest welcome offers.
Now that the table has changed, are Milan the real favourites for the Scudetto?
“It is still early to say such a thing. Let’s say, keeping us cautious, that now an important card can be played with having first place outright. The remaining points are many but the possibilities must be considered concrete.”
Did you think Torino could halt Inter?
“Honestly no, at the beginning of the season I believed that Inter was the absolute protagonist of this season among many things. Returning to the game on Sunday evening, Torino have shown that they know how to put many teams in difficulty and if it had not been for the late equaliser they would have deservedly won.”
The strength of Milan can be identified in a greater attention to the defensive phase…
“They are conceding few goals, there is no doubt. It must be added that Milan have players who always find the goal. With these prerogatives, many important results are collected.”
Did Pioli mature further in his time with the Rossoneri?
“Well done Pioli, good players but a good club too. Milan have guessed the strategy, they have locked up young and important players who this year are making a decisive contribution to the cause.”
Among these, is there a player in particular that positively surprised you?
“Leao, but he didn’t surprise me. We could see that he possessed incredible qualities and this season he must be considered fundamental.”
Can he become a top player?
“If the head accompanies him, he has everything to become one.”
Would you like Ibrahimovic on the pitch for another season?
“Beyond the technical issues and the performance, Ibra changed Milan. In the locker room he wore a different air since his arrival. There is a lot of him in this team.”
And how much of the director Maldini is there in this Milan?
“A lot. Besides being a champion, Paolo is intelligent and knows how to do his job. Nor would I leave out Ricky Massara, a dear friend who is doing very well.”
The conditions for dreaming would seem to be all there…
“There is a little bit of everything. There is quality, organisation, attachment. The mix is working and it would be nice to see the Rossoneri celebrate something important at the end of the year.”
