However, it seems like the Rossoneri are already looking for a replacement. For example, it makes no sense to spend more than €30 million on a backup replacement to Maignan, who will want to start every game as captain.
The fact that the Rossoneri are also recruiting leaders heavily suggests that they are already bracing for the departure of their main leader.

“First of all, I’d like to highlight his [Maignan’s] attitude, which is absolutely top-notch. A Milan executive told us he’s the anti-Lookman, a definition that perfectly describes how Maignan has behaved in recent months.
“It’s a bit unfortunate that AC Milan’s captain’s contract is expiring, and there’s no certainty about his future at the club. Maignan still has a few good years ahead of him; he’s always been committed to the cause. If he were to end up like Donnarumma, leaving for free, it would be a shame.
“I think they’ve already made peace with it. Maignan has been very important to AC Milan, with some ups and downs, but his presence in the dressing room has been crucial.
“Without him, perhaps AC Milan would have sunk even deeper last year.”

It’s useless management to not accept 18m transfer fee for a 1year contract goalkeeper of 30y old because they rate him highly but don’t want to give 5m salary. 🤣🤣🤣
It’s better Mike go to the club where he can get the better salary in his last few best year’s.
If they don’t think they can find a strong enough replacement (and let’s be honest, he’s the only leader our defensive unit has) and he can help be the difference between UEL and UCL, then it’s definitely a better investment to keep him.

As a free agent Mike would easily get 6/7 m a year in the premiership . The management probably offered 4 to 5m . This is main obstacle for Mike staying at the club.

The way idiot furlani treated mighty mike earlier this year was unpardonable. MM might have made mistakes but who doesn’t? If furlani were to pay for his many mistakes – including this one – then he should be kicked away from milan immediately and never come back.

Anyway, he should be benched if he doesn’t sign. I’d have him spend 6 months before the World Cup in the stands. He was the top goalkeeper in Serie A for 1 season. You don’t get to make claims if you aren’t performing like that every year. And he was much worse.
