Leicester City will match West Ham’s big-money bid for Saint-Etienne defender Wesley Fofana in what is bad news for AC Milan.
The Rossoneri are understood to have put Fofana on their shortlist to reinforce a centre-back department which currently has just two fit players in Matteo Gabbia and Simon Kjaer.
However, they face competition from the Premier League for the 19-year-old. According to Inside Futbol, Leicester have seen bids for Fofana rejected but West Ham have moved into the lead in the race to sign him by offering €35m.
French outlet L’Equipe meanwhile provide a twist by claiming that Leicester are now ready to match West Ham’s offer or potentially even surpass it, but Saint-Etienne are determined to keep him and will continue to demand €40m.
It is a fee that Milan almost certainly cannot afford at the moment, unless they got creative with the formula of the deal or made a big sale.
