L’Equipe: Lyon signal intention to sign Milan midfielder in January

By Euan Burns -

Ligue 1 side Lyon have thrown their hat into the ring to sign Rade Krunic from AC Milan in the January transfer window, a report claims.

As has been claimed by French newspaper L’Equipe (via Daniele Longo), there is interest in the Bosnian midfielder from Lyon who are trying to get their season back on track.

Despite being one of France’s most notable sides, they are currently down in 15th and need to add some more quality to their squad if they are to climb up the ranks.

It has seemed for a long time that Krunic will not be staying at Milan beyond the January transfer window, but Fenerbahce in Turkey has seemed like the favoured destination.

They were trying to sign him in the summer but could not strike a deal with Milan, but a move is a lot more plausible in the next month.

The fact that two clubs would like to sign Krunic might allow Milan to squeeze and extra million or so euros from the deal, but neither club would be willing to pay the sorts of figures that were discussed in the summer (€15m).

Milan have been linked with Real Betis’ Guido Rodriguez as a potential replacement.

      1. Guido Rodriguez’s contract is ending so he probably won’t cost too much.
*Assuming we have the funds* (which if we dont then obviously not) Rayan Cherki is valued at 10M which means we might be able to get him for just Krunic since his a Lyon target anyway (a bargain imo).
Signing him might help with rotation and preventing even further injuries to our 4 remaining midfielders without mentioning he has great potential.

  1. Why not just sign defenders and then use them as inverted and push everyone forward as a midfielder. 10 attackers, all the time.

Isn’t that Pioli’s tactics so far this season?

I’m actually surprised Pioli hasn’t invented an inverted goalie who acts as an additional midfielder who runs upfield while we have the ball.

Defense? HA! Fogetaboutit, not needed! We got Pioloball. Punt the ball upfield with everyone sent forward and hope to God Leao latches onto to it. Nope, Milan gives the ball away, AGAIN.
