L’Equipe liken Milan’s Loftus-Cheek to ‘prime Vieira’ whilst praising Leao and Reijnders

French newspaper L’Equipe has been full of praise for some of AC Milan’s stars following the impressive 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

As has been reported by Milan News, the traditionally hard-to-please L’Equipe journalists did not hold back on their praise for some Milan players at San Siro.

One of the most impressive Milan players was certainly English midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who managed to dribble through the PSG midfield on multiple occasions.

L’Equipe likened the former Chelsea player to a ‘prime Patrick Vieira’, who starred for the likes of Arsenal, Juventus and Inter after his very brief spell with Milan.

They also said that Tijjani Reijnders ‘showed Europe his talent’ with his energetic display in the midfield, whilst strong words were used for goalscorer Rafael Leao.

It was said that the Portuguese winger ‘tortured’ Marquinhos throughout the game, as the Brazilian defender seemed powerless to stop him.

  1. It’s no accident that Milan’s terrible form has coincided with Loftus-Cheek being out. He’s an absolute boss in the middle of the park.

  2. We have more balance when Musah plays on LCM because he does defensive duties better than Reijnder so Leao dan Theo are comfortable to attack. The problem is Reijnder will be limited as regista, So I think we should go back to 4231 with Reijnder and Musah as duo midfielder. Musah on left DM. RLC as AMC because he can hold up the ball and long shoot.

  3. Without any doubt, Loftus-Cheek has been the missing link in the midfield and that’s exactly why we have struggled in his absence. Another thing to note is Yunus Musa playing as a defensive midfielder covered up for Theo overlapping. Leo was able to get past the opponent easily because Theo is there to support him. The whole set up in the match against PSG make room for others to flourish.

I used to think Reinjder will be best as 10, but seeing Loftus-Cheek last night, I changed my opinion. Aside from his ball movement and dribbling, his powerful shot accuracy will come of use if Pioli stick to 4231 set up.

    1. It’s like RLC is an untraditional 10. He just powers through the midfield and can drop back as needed..loved his runs from deep. We’ve been missing that from the midfield the last few games

  4. It was not about Musah doing any defensive duties yesterday,if you watch that match and take some notice of things that unfolded yesterday then you will attest to the fact that there’s been a major tweak on the 433 formation.

It was very obvious that Musah didn’t move forward much as against the usual pattern where the Box to Box Midfielders move into the wings when attacking which suck the space and render the team toothless and unimaginative in the final third and thin at the centre which consequently make AC Milan susceptible to counterattack.

Cheek operated more centrally most times and not drifting towards the wings as before and so it easier for the Wingers in person of Leao and Pulisic to be free to utilise the space in their zones to spark the team into action and to also track back when necessary because there’s more clarity and delegation of respective functions for the whole duration and I believe moving one at a time AC Milan will be unstoppable. The smiles of Leao is coming back and Theo is becoming lively again.

And finally the I saw yesterday was not a predictable one.

  5. Yes Loftus cheek ..I did say that he could well be the buy of the season ,,,just as I said the same thing about Olivier Giroud when we signed him
I also said that reafeo Leao would come could again what a performance from him ..Man of the match .
Back onto Loftus cheek ,,,yes we definitely missed him when he was injured and out of the team .
His is a midfield Genius,,,he has it all physically so strong ,tall ,fast and a great passer of the ball ,and a great tackler ,,and he will score a few goals .
    A great team performance…

  6. The common enemy here is “Injuries”.

Allow me to remind you all that Benacer will soon return. Chukwueze seems like a waste of time so far because of this common enemy.

Also: seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. Meaning, if you are genuinely interested and actively approach the presence of God, you will quickly realize how all your needs and desires are being met by Him.
