L’Equipe: Milan among three teams to open talks over Montpellier sensation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have opened talks over the potential signing of talented Montpellier striker Elye Wahi along with two other clubs, a report claims.

According to the latest from L’Équipe, Milan are among a trio of clubs who have expressed an interest in signing Wahi along with Ligue 1 side Monaco and Eintracht Frankfurt from the Bundesliga.

Wahi has been attracting the eyes of many given that he has netted 13 times and has added four assists this season for Montpellier, at the age of just 20. He has a deal that runs until 2025, and the source suggest that Montpellier could well look to cash in at peak value.

He is currently expected to fetch €20m or just above, a figure that would be affordable for any of the three teams in theory especially if Frankfurt sell Randal Kolo Muani for a huge amount.

It will potentially come down to where Wahi wants to go next in his career, but his recent comments suggested that he would be happy to stay in France.

“Ligue 1. Why not? I have always said that I don’t want to skip stages and I want to go step by step. We’ll see what is offered, but as I’ve always said, I’m at Montpellier and I’m very happy here. We’ll see where the wind takes me,” he said.
