With Theo Hernandez’s future seemingly away from San Siro, AC Milan are desperate for a new left-back, and it seems like the Frenchman’s replacement has been identified.
In a season where Theo has often been underwhelming, justifications for a new contract have gotten fewer, and now, Milan are in a difficult place. Unfortunately, sentimentality can no longer cover the situation, and the Rossoneri must be ruthless.
Some have suggested that his time is not done yet, and there is still a very slim chance of an extension, but this does not seem to be the case and an exit seems almost definite at this point, which is to be expected.
This leaves the Diavolo with an equally difficult question: who replaces the Frenchman? Despite his flaws, he has still been a pillar of the team in recent years, and these attributes must be replaced aptly.
A few names have been floated around, but it seems that the club have an infatuation with Belgian defender Maxim De Cuyper – who plays for Club Brugge and has a massively high ceiling.
Milan News recalls the Champions League clash against the Belgian outfit, where Milan were impressed by his performance and qualities – a young defender with bags of potential, able to contribute goals like Theo and also ‘less explosive’ than Theo Hernandez, who was described as an ‘enigma’ earlier this season.
After all, the Rossoneri, as the report states, need a ‘quality player’ and not a ‘quality name’, which is what Theo has become in recent years. Whilst he still has things to improve, he still stands out as a ‘worthy heir’ to the troubled defender.
After the Theo experience, it would be refreshing to find some one well rounded in both phases of the game to play in this position.
Why don’t you try Pavlović as left back?
Pavlovic at left back? Someone with no speed and accurate shot and pass. How’s he gonna perform? Bro, body balance and stamina isn’t enough for left back.
Have you watched him against Torino? He was practically a left back. And, he was both good in defence and in attack. How’s he gonna perform if not given a chance? I would try him as a left back. One game.
Did you see him play as left back in the Euros with Serbia especially against rapid wingers like Saka?
Weren’t they playing three in defence? Didn’t watch those matches to be honest, so can’t comment on something I didn’t watch. But against Torino he was a beast, and was involved in both attack and defence. Neither did Ibrahimović start his career as an attacker. Give Pavlović a chance.
“Someone with no speed ”
AND HERE WE HAVE ANOTHER FNG IDIOT WHO HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE’S TALKING ABOUT!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
Based on the official stats, Pavlovic is the in the top5 of fastest CBs in the Champions League this season. So you are saying he’s slow? Well, I’ve got news for you, 95% of other CBs are slower than him.
And in fact Theo has only run 0.02km/h faster than Pavlovic this season!!! What do you think about that? Want to change your opinion on his pace? Naaah, didn’t think you would. IDIOT.
Pavlo did look kinda slow earlier in the season, but has played faster lately. I think he has good top speed, but his acceleration/first step is kinda sluggish at times. But when he gets up to full speed he does look pretty fast now.
Sign Nuno Mendes
To be fair, there’s not alot (perhaps 2/3 at most) that are more explosive than Theo..
He has all the red cards to show for it.
Rayan Aït-Nouri of Wolves is a very good option as a left back replacement.
Bring back Maldini 🤣 but for real sign Ian Maatsen
