GdS: Leverkusen willing to pay €20m+ for defender but Milan want more – the latest

Even though the season has only just ended there are a lot of transfer rumours concerning AC Milan, and Malick Thiaw is being linked with an exit.

The 2024-25 campaign was a strange one for Thiaw with Milan, as he struggled for regular starts throughout but then vanished from the rotations despite the switch to a three-man defence. This had led to speculation about a potential move before 2025-26.

Thiaw wanted in Germany

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), other members of the Milan squad also have admirers around Europe in addition to the likes of Mike Maignan and Theo Hernandez. For example, Thiaw is sought after especially in his homeland.

First the rumours about Bayern Munich surfaced, who have already added Jonathan Tah to their defensive department. Then came those stories about the concrete interest of Leverkusen, who must ironically replace Tah.

At the moment there is still no agreement between Bayer Leverkusen and Milan on the valuation of the former Schalke 04 player. The German side would not like to go above €20-25m, while the Rossoneri are wanting €30m to sell.

Thiaw’s farewell could then lead to Fikayo Tomori remaining at the club, something that Massimiliano Allegri does not mind. Then, surely another central defender would be needed, with Giovanni Leoni the number one target according to DAZN.

    1. Sell both. How much room for growth does Thiaw really have. 25m-30m for a CB is not a low value, significantly more is approaching the fringes of world class territory, and I don´t think Thiaw has the talent for that.

  1. With the Frimpong + Wirtz money. Plus them losing a defensive lynchpin like Tah, they badly need a CB and have the cash to splash.

Thiaw not on an expiring contract either. His attitude good, ie hes likely got no issues staying. Bundesliga wages arent crazy either.

There’s no need to compromise here for Milan. Its the one scenario we hold all the cards. Set your price, whatever €32mn or something, and stick to it.

    1. It is good, with that money + kalulu sale to juve, they can get Leoni + Coppola ( maybe). We will have 3 italian future CB with gabbiadini, Leoni, Coppola. Thats if this stupid management move fast

  2. In my opinion, you should sell Tomori and keep Thiaw. Thiaw is a good defender with good mentality and personality, Tomori is not going good with his personality.

Tomori is also wanted by EPL clubs for his speed, we can get at least 30-35m for him. A lot of center-backs will be bought for Allegri’s new team anyway.

Not only are those center-backs youngsters, we’ll have Thiaw and he is better than Tomori overall, better tackles and passes. He is also younger, he’ll get better as he grows up.
