AC Milan want Giovanni Leoni to replace Malick Thiaw in the defence, and they are planning a player-plus-cash offer to get him.
According to Calciomercato.com, the plan for the first part of the window is to sell players that are not deemed important, to then finance the incoming operations. An agreement has been reached with Como over a €25m deal for Thiaw, and now attention has turned to his possible replacement.

Liberali for Leoni
The new sporting director Tare was clear: a new centre-back will arrive only in the event of the sale of someone already in the squad, and so Leoni could take the place of the German if that particular operation goes through.
With Mosquera of Valencia having slipped away (about to move to Arsenal), the Parma starlet is the first choice. However, they are resisting offers for now and have reportedly already rejected one for €25m, so it will not be a case of just diverting the Thiaw funds over to them.
Milan could include one of their jewels in the deal to lower the price: Mattia Liberali. The attacking midfielder will be called up by Allegri for the retreat but should leave the club permanently in the coming weeks.
The Gialloblù are among the clubs most interested in the boy – together with Lecce and Spezia, among others – and the inclusion of the Azzurrino could be an ace up the sleeve for Tare. What would also help is Alvaro Morata going to Como permanently, thus bringing the total proceeds to €35m.
What??? Are these guys absolutely mad, why sell him permanently, planing him would be debatable, but selling him for leoni, at this point just keep thiaw.

Liberali has decided to leave the club, the management are resigned to losing him and are trying to get something out of him( rightfully so) before he leaves for free in 12 months.
It’s a difficult situation for Tare , including him in a deal for Leoni would be the best scenario.

Kid played well in preseason and didn’t see a minute during a season where the team was an unmitigated disaster, that will do to convince him to move on elsewhere. More than 25 million for an 18 year old is crazy though.
